Quick & Easy Home Baked Pizza

Instead of putting up a fight today – I’m gonna join the US Congress in their recent declaration – Pizza is a Vegetable!

This statement becomes completely true, when you start off with a “flour free” whole foods crust like a sprouted grain tortilla and load a big bowl of vegetables on top.

I have a feeling this pizza will become a staple in your household, like it has mine.  The freshness in taste goes beyond any frozen pizza could ever deliver.  When I suggest one of these pizzas to my husband for dinner, I usually hear a big “OH YEAH!” come out of his mouth. When I make this for other family members or friends, they immediately request the recipe.

This recipe will bring upon cheers from your loved ones, friends and family!  They will all LOVE it.

Are you vegan?….No cheese leaves more room for veggies and still creates an equally delicious and satisfying pizza.

Want to keep it light?   Just use a little bit of cheese…

Or you can go all out…. and make it super cheesy!

    1. 2.5 cups whole wheat organic flour
2 tsp active dry yeast (or one packet)
Seasonings of your choice – I usually do a 1 tsp of homemade seasoning salt and 1 tsp garlic powder
      1 cup warm water
Mix dry ingredients, then add water. Mix well and knead on floured surface for a couple min. Let it rest in the bowl for 10 min, set oven for 375. After done resting, roll out on floured surface, makes a large pizza (approx 16 in), then place on pizza stone or pizza pan, pre-bake for 10 min or so.
Bring out and top with whatever you want, then back in the oven for another 15-20 min or longer till cheese and toppings are bubbly, etc.
      Enjoy!!

    2. Look up online Wolfgang Puck’s Pizza recipe. The best pizza dough you will ever eat.

  1. I LOVE PIZZA. I mean, who doesn’t? The problem is that I have read the labels of ALL frozen pizza’s and knew they were nothing but artificial garbage. Pizzeria pizza’s are fresh, hot, and good. But they also use processed ingredients. I don’t trust pizza kits that come in boxes. Nor ready made crusts. So… I guess to get my Pizza fix… I’ll have to go with home made pizzas made from scratch… using organic ingredients.

    1. I buy gluten free tortillas from Sprouts, or Whole Foods, or you could make a gluten free pizza crust with cauliflower. There are also some ‘not so healthy’ options for gluten free pizza crusts in the grocery stores.

    2. I use brown rice wraps from food for life, they work well but don’t cook for too long.

  2. The Tortilla shell is not that good.
Just use healthy whole wheat flour and make a good old fashion crust.
A person can over due it with “healthy” alternatives, and lose the joy of food.

    1. Food Babe- the idea to use Ezekiel tortillas for pizza dough is the BEST! My husband and I eat this every friday night- we cannot get enough! Flavor is amazing, you dont feel overly full after eating it, the perfect cripspy thin crust…it doesnt get any better! Thank you so much for sharing this.

    2. Rose- my comment was not meant as a direct reply to you, not sure why it posted that way. With that being said, I think this is all personal preference- If you have never really tried whole wheat or ezekiel, it may taste different at first. But that doesnt mean you shouldnt give it a shot! This is a fantastic alternative for people (like me) who want REAL whole food but dont have time to make dough every week.

    3. A person can over due/do it with “healthy” alternatives, and lose the joy of food. But all those cheese, meat and other unhealthy ingredients will make you “overdue” for a heart attack.

  3. Hi! I’ve had to learn all this over the years(I’m 50) on my own…..THANK GOD for the internet. 10 years ago this info was non existent….I do need to point something out though……MSG is naturally occurring in tomatoes…this being said. I’ve learned the hard way, reducing tomato product is a HUGE issue for me. I can’t use paste and most sauces because of it. I do everything from scratch….quick & easy is fresh frozen chicken broth for soups and pot pies…lolol……if you’ve ever wondered why you get so sick after eating chili, spaghetti etc, it’s probably NOT the tomato itself, but that it’s been reduced to a smaller amount. I eat tomatoes all the time, I cook with them a lot. BUT, I don’t let it reduce very much. I use canned tomato juice if I’m in a hurry, but I ALWAYS add enough water to maintain the same amount of juice I start with. Don’t like “soupy” soups and chili? Thicken with corn startch or mesa(I think that’s it) powder.

  4. Nothing beats homemade pizza! I always make my own! The vegetables on this pizza are all raw??? I use these same veggies but cook them a little first. Delicious!!

  5. I asked my husband to make this pizza for us and we just both loved it!!!!
So crispy, so healthy and so delicious!!!!

    Easy to make

  6. Thanks for all the information about pizzas and msg. I am definitely make my own healthy ones.

  7. My current favorite pizza crust recipe is two ingredients. Greek yogurt and flour. Use any organic non GMO flour. I have even used spelt. Super yummy! I saw a cauliflower crust on Pinterest that I will try next weekend.

  8. My husband found a similar recipe about 5 years ago. And we successfully make this type of pizza since then. We try to teach our friends to cook like this.

  9. Are there any other crusts you can substitute for the Ezekiel one mentioned…without making your own?

    1. The best part about pizza is the toppings – generally speaking.

Non-grain recipe that’s EZ and not too bad (won’t have to choke it down):
PS – I’ve added some almond/sweet potato flour to make a bit more palatable.

      Ingredients

      -2/3 cup garbanzo bean flour
      -1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon water
      -1/2 teaspoon garlic salt
      -1/2 teaspoon chili powder
      -Any toppings you desire!

      Instructions
      1. Preheat oven to 375.
      2. In a small bowl, mix together all ingredients. It should be a thick paste.
      3. Next, line a pan with parchment paper and spread mixture evenly onto pan (I used a spoon). I created a circular pizza, but feel free to make any shape that you desiree.
      4. Top your pizza with what ever your heart desires! I used thin slices of smoked ham, goat cheese, red onion, tomatoes, and kale.
      5. Bake at 375 for 15-20 minutes, or until crust is firm. Slice with a pizza cutter.

  10. So my new year’s resolution this year was to come up with 6 recipes that I could add to my family’s healthy meals Arsenault. I’m SO excited to try this one out and am hopeful it’s going to make this year’s list! What I love about it is how easy it looks! Realistic recipes get bonus points 😉
