Coconut Avocado Fries – Decadent & So Good For You!

As you all know, I try not to snack throughout the day, but sometimes you just gotta eat!

This recipe for coconut avocado fries is so easy to make (5 minute prep time) and so decadent – makes the perfect snack or appetizer for a party. It only takes a few healthy ingredients that you probably already have in your pantry too – avocado, coconut flakes, and sprouted grain bread.

I like to keep a loaf of Ezekiel 4:9 Sprouted Grain Bread in my freezer at all times. You can just grab a couple slices and pulse them quickly in a high-powered blender or food processor to make bread crumbs (after they defrost on the counter for a few minutes). If you are gluten-free try a different bread or Mary’s Gone Crackers

My mouth is watering again just thinking about them!

  1. These look amazing!! What is the dipping sauce you used? Is there a recipe? I’m definitely getting the stuff to make these next time I’m at the store!

  2. Where did you get such a wild idea? I love your creativity in food! I can think of 1000 things to use these in! And why just one avocado? That’s such a tease! I can also use the rest of the crumbs in making cassava fries or maybe zucchini? We can do a cold version out of melon or even papaya yum. Now my minds running wild (as always) I’ll just stick to the original recipe of decadent avocado fries! I’ll have to ask my neighbor for some avocados from his tree. You know what sauce sounds amazing with this? The tangy tzatziki sauce. Mm dill, Greek sauce, zesty! Now, I notice on your periscope when shopping at Whole Goods the avocados you picked where dark green. How ripe should the avocados be for this recipe? As these alligator pears are tricky to cook with.

  3. What a great idea – avocado should take to breading really easily! I’d probably add some seasoning to compliment whatever main dish I’m serving them with (if that’s the case).

  4. Vani, these look delicious. You are making me think I can have my cake (or in this case fries) and eat it too! Scrumptious. I’m really hammering home my snacking issue too and trying to only eat super healthy at meal times. This is tough when those “pangs of hunger” hit. I find if I drink a glass of water, they tend to go away sooner rather than later, the goal here! And then I don’t feast on too much of even the healthy foods….like eating a whole watermelon.

  5. Your recipes sound great but my wife says no to Coconut. Any substitute?
Other than that, keep up the great work.

      1. Mike, I would think finely chopped pistachios would work well in place of coconut.

  6. OMG! Thanks for the recipe. That looks so good and easy to make. I just showed this to my husband and he loves the idea. We will have to try these as we just purchased 5 avocados day before yesterday and am thinking about some kind of a soy sauce dipping sauce. We are looking forward to tomorrow’s post. Thanks again!!

  7. I agree with a nut bread crumb mixture, I think count is very tropical (yin) and not good to use all the time especially for most of us yin natured people.

  8. Yes, do not want the coconut, not into sweet. Any ideas for seasoning or substitutes for the coconut because I definitely would like to make this!

  9. I live in Australia now, and they don’t have Ezekial bread here…so very sad, I loved it so much…still looking for a substitute, but I love Guacamole, so that is how I eat my Avos, or just plain…they are so tasty all by themselves. Can’t wait to try the recipe when I find a bread worthy!

    1. Use raw organic flax crackers instead of bread. Use your imagination. You can use vita mix and grin nuts into a fine powder and put some cayenne in to taste.

  10. Do you have a gluten-free dairy free soy sauce and also the other dipping sauce you mentioned I believe sweet-and-sour sauce and also what kind of breadcrumbs should I use instead those… We need gluten-free… Ps I love you n so does my husband… More to come as my family has been the most killed by gluten and bad foods

    1. Add up the calories of all the ingredients that you use, then divide by however many “fries” you end up with.

  11. Sounds really good but need the gluten free option (celiac). Your link for Mary’s Gone Crackers is for Amazon where they cost $18.99 for 2 10 oz. bags. I cannot justify nor afford this cost… an issue I am having with nearly everything.
Any other cheaper and still tasty alternatives?

  12. I am trying to email this recipe without printing so I can keep it in an E Folder labeled for specific recipes. I only see opportunities here for facebook, twitter, and pintrest. I dont do those and I dont see the need to print only to scan and then email myself. Does anyone know how to get the email function to work for the recipe only and not the whole email post?? THanks!!
