Ravishing Red Juice

Definition of Ravishing – unusually attractive, pleasing, or striking. I couldn’t think of a better word to describe this juice. It’s very attractive in color, pleasing to the eye, and striking to your system. This is a perfect juice for the morning – The beets go straight to the blood to do some serious cleansing work to help your body to fight off a myriad of ailments and diseases like cancer, chronic fatigue, colds, eczema, gallstones, high blood pressure, psoriasis and asthma.

I usually like to throw extra greens like kale or parsley in the mix to cut the sweetness – but if you like extra sweet juice, you can leave them out.

This juice also has carrot juice. Back when I started juicing with carrots – my eye lashes started getting longer and my eyes became brighter. True Story. I love Juicing. It’s here to stay.

  1. Do your juicing recipes like this one work in a blender? I don’t have a juicer but I have a nice blender.

    1. yes i did it with a blender, just added a little water and then used a nuts bag to drain everything!

  2. Hi Vani i will love to loose some weight and get some of my energy back I saw your mom looks great please help. I am ready to start any time.

  3. Is it ok to drink this every day? I know that beets are a super cleanser and have heard of people getting ill from drinking to many beets. This is my favorite of your juices – I have become a super fan of juicing!

    1. Yes it’s ok to drink everyday, as long as you aren’t drinking more than 1 beet. They are super cleansing and can cause flu like symptoms if you are detoxing, but it’s not harmful.

  4. Is it ok if I use this with a vitamix blender? Add filtered water for similar consistency or will the amounts need to be changed? I love the recipes for juices so far, especially if I can get my 4 year old boy to drink it.

    1. This recipe is strictly for a juicer… however you could blend it using a vitamin and strain it using a cheese cloth. If you do that, make sure you drink it right away. Good Luck!

      1. Is the point of straining it for texture purposes only if using a vitamix?

      2. I have the same question – does it have to be strained if doing it in a vitamix?

  5. Maybe this is a silly question, but can you freeze your juices? Thanks! LOVE your site!!

  6. Do you peel the ginger before using it and do you you consume both servings in the 12 hour period or share with your husband? Could you provide some basic tips about prepping the fruits and vegetables before juicing? i.e. if it doens’t say anything other than the fruit or vegetable does that mean you wash it and use it? Thanks!

  7. Hi! Love your site! So happy I found it! Wanted to know if you could recommend a juicer. I haven’t started yet, and think I would use it a couple of times a week. I’m from Canada.
    Thanks!
    Kristin

    1. I use the Vitalmax Oscar 900 and I would highly recommend it!! You can buy it online and its great because its a cold press juicer and can do lots of other fancy stuff like make nut butters and pasta.

  8. new to the site, ready for a nutrition change and want to incorporate juicing. what juicer would u recommend, i plan on juicing at least 3times a week. I have noticed the small amount of ingrdients you juice make alot two 15oz.. do u refrigerate the other 15oz.. how often are you adding flax seed?

  9. Hi, I stumbled across your site when looking for smoothie recipes. The recipes look great and in addition to buying a new blender (mine is 35 years old!) I want to put a juicer on my wedding registry. What blender and juicer do you recommend? I have a small kitchen and would like to preserve space, but I also want a high quality product (preferably under 300 dollars).

  10. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite juice recipes. I’ve found my stomach can only handle 1/2 a beet juiced per day, so the two servings is perfect

  11. Just curious. Why is it important to juice the ingredients in a certain order? Thanks!

  12. love your juicing recipes. i started my whole family on then (me, hubby, 2 kids, and nana/nani) and everyone can’t go a day without them! even more life changing than becoming vegan or eating only organic whole foods. all of a sudden we have so much energy! thanks for your blog.

    1. Really? That’s so interesting! I suppose it attests to the depleted soil conditions, because even when eating a plant based diet, it is difficult to get all the vitamins and minerals our body needs. The volume of greens we would have to take in is just too high. Thanks for sharing that observation. I am a high-raw vegan as it is, but I’ll be sure not to go a day without juicing. It’s not the same “aliveness”, I know, but these new cold-pressed juices by companies like Suja help a lot when I’m busy.

      1. I know this comment was a while ago but if you have a mostly plant based diet you should check out Moringa. The amount of vitamins, minerals, omegas and amino acids in the plant are astonishing. Scientists are calling it the most nutrient dense plant on the planet! Just thought I’d share! 🙂

  13. I’ve been juicing for about 3 months and have never previously seen reference to the order in which the produce should be juiced. Can you elaborate on that? I do have my own order, but it’s based on the functionality of my juicer. What is your reasoning? Thanks, love your site and your mission!

  14. I made this tonight and it was very good! Thanks for sharing. I also would like to see more juicing recipes.

  15. I just tried this today. It was a little bit bland for me so I added about a fourth lemon to it and it was perfect! Have you tried this?

    – Devyn

  16. Just tried this and love it . I put a little less ginger to start and little greens in also. New to juicing and going to try the Cabbage Patch one next. Thank you !

  17. Do you have to core the apples? I’ve been juicing for a while and I always juice the entire apple. Should I not? Thanks!

      1. Naturally occurring cyanide is converted to B-vitamins by healthy cells. In fact, the only cells in the body that cannot do this are CANCER cells.

There are many instances of people who have cured their cancer by eating high-concentrations of naturally occurring cyanide (most easily obtained in quantity through apricot seeds).

        Just sayin’…

  18. I love the red color the beets give this. I’ve never really liked beets by themselves but including them in juice is wonderful since you get natural sugars and the great color. When I’ve included beets, I usually keep the stems out but might try to include them next time. I also like to include a bit more ginger as I love the taste. Thanks!

  19. I have a Bullet. It does well with leafy greens & an apple. Would this work? You have it in a certain order. Why? If I use the bullet, is it okay to drink without straining?

    1. Hi Paula – the recipe is really meant for a juicer but sure you can blend the ingredients if you want… the order matters only if you are juicing. You do not have to strain if you like the texture. Good luck!

  20. I just tried this and I can’t stop drinking it!! I also added the kale like you suggested and I thought it would be bitter but it’s still sweet. Yum!!

  21. I received my breville masticating juicer last night. Made this juice this morning and it is amazing. I added kale and parsley. Absolutely love it as a morning juice as i can get my sweetness fix without any refined sugar or fake sweetners. Yummy 🙂
Please continue to share juices recipe 🙂

      1. Food babe, so i keep making that juice every morning as i love the taste. I bought a breville masticating juicer as you recommended. I have one issue when juicing these ingredient. Well first i notice that hard veggies like beet need to be cut in small pieces or it ll clogg the juicer and juicer will stop. but my concern is when it comes to juicing the cucumber it s a disaster each and every time. I get the juice yes but the whole cucmber mush stay stuck in the bowl nothing comes out where the pulp is suppose to come out. any tips? (i m new to juicing) does it really matter the order of ingredients for juicing? maybe i should juice the cucumber 1st? any help is appreciated 🙂

      2. Hi Frederic – sorry you are having issues. My juicer is not a masticating juicer so I’m not sure exactly but I would suggest cutting the cucumber smaller or maybe peeling it? It should not be causing a problem because it is so soft. You do not have to juice in the order suggested, Food Babe has just found it seems to help get the most juice if you do harder veggies first and more watery ones last. Good luck! Don’t give up!

      3. Frederic, I have been taught to rotate the soft veggies and/or fruit with the hard to help “push” the soft on through the juicing process. Hope this helps!

  22. Why does she suggest cutting the ends off of the cucumber? Is that just for the juicer model efficacy?

  23. Love your site-Following your various juicing recipes, you suggest: “…sip slowly and drink with intention…,” opposing concepts as I understand them; also, recipes typically produce two 15 oz. servings. Sip one? Store then drink “with intention” the other serving? Drink both at once? Sip one serving, pound the second one?
Thanks for a great site nonetheless.

  24. thoughts on all the fiber lost through juicing? its the reason i havent started juicing

      1. so, taking out the fiber just means I will absorb the nutrients FASTER? If I leave the fiber in I will still get all the nutrients… just slower?

  25. What juicer do you use Food Babe? I want to purchase one, but am not sure what one to buy, so would like to know what you use : )

  26. The juice I make 4/7 days of the week is Beet-Apple-Carrot-Orange-Lemon-Ginger-Turmeric + beet greens if I can get them. I make enough for the next morning so I can start my day right, and I make sure to drink 8oz of juice as the last food I eat in a day. Even if I’ve had a big meal that day, I wake up feeling SO refreshed from the juice, which I believe aids in detox while I sleep.

  27. I have been wanting to make your juices for months and I finally made this one today. I have never had a beet in my entire life so I don’t know if I’ll ever eat one anytime soon, but juicing them works for me 🙂 I am pregnant right now so hopefully this child will like their veggies more than the other two!

  28. 1-Do you have a calorie count on this and your green juice recipe? I do 5:2 intermittent fasting and have stayed away from juices afraid to ruin my fasts. Also, I have problems with washing cucumbers! I’ve tried vinegar, Dish soap, and scrubbing with my doby sponge but can’t seem to get rid of that waxy residue. So I’ve resorted to peeling them. (organic cucumbers are not available this time of year here.)

  29. With regard to juicing: I am wondering about the risk of consuming too much sugar, while not getting the fiber you would get if you ate the whole fruit, particularly if you juice every day.

    Thanks

    Michael

    1. The vita mix will blend everything. I have one and it pulverizes everything, and you can also make soup.

  30. I just can’t learn to like the taste of beets in my juice. I have tried & know how good they are for you. Is there something just as good for you to replace them with? I juice 3/4 times a week & love everything else just not the beets!

    1. Caroline, I had the same issue until saw a video were the guy suggested using small “baby” beets. He said they tasted sweeter than the larger beets. Ever since thenI love them!!

  31. I am addicted to 4-5carrots, 2 apples, a lemon, a piece of ginger(I like the zip it puts in the juice ) juice and put in the freezer to get it kinda slushy and cold .. Drink and enjoy:) I sometimes put a half of a cucumber or use pears instead if apples… My hair and nails are looking amazing … Even after chemo.. But don’t forget to juice your greens .. Beets, kale, spinach .. No fruit in my green juice ..

  32. I love juicing with beets and do so several times a week. My usual concoction consists of beets, carrots, red apples, kale, spinach and ginger but this should be a nice variation for me to try. Thanks for the recipe!

  33. Why do you use green apples as opposed to other varieties of apples? Is it just your taste preference, or something to do with the apple itself? Thanks!

  34. I love this juice. Great liover detox. I do not use the kale but add 1/2 lemon. My 2 1/2 year old grandson calls it “Beetlejuice” and loves to sip it, too.

  35. I hope you can point me in the right direction.
I am in the process of healing my dad of leukemia. I have been juicing for him using a breville juicer but didn’t like it as it wasted so much of the veggies! I would put the pulp thru 2 or 3 extra times and would get another 10 oz or so from the pulp! I ordered a new masticating juicer, Greenstar GSE 5ooo which arrived yesterday so I am anxious to try it out! I will use the juice recipes I’ve been using since starting my dad on juice, but would love if you could share any of your juice recipes that might be geared for cancer patients. I know sugar is a HUGE no no but I am using carrots, beets and an occasional granny smith apple. lots of lemons and limes too. I intend to kick my dad’s cancer in the ass, once and for all! Thanks for any suggestions.

    1. cont…. AND OF COURSE TONS OF EVERY GREEN I CAN GET MY HANDS ON! THANK GOODNESS FOR WHOLEFOODS! pricey but great selection.

  36. I love tea in the afternoon or late evening. I’m the only one in my house who drinks it so this would be perfect for me.
My recent “ah-ha” moment was actually today! I bought myself a new juicer! I suffer from fibromyalgia, and found recipes that can help fight my symptoms. I’m very excited to find new recipes (what brought me to Food Babe) and see (and feel) the difference.

  37. Can you convert this recipe into a smoothie? My kids (teens esp) make in am. Only parent of four so more economical is best for budget.

  38. Isn’t the Nutribullet better than a juicer because of the fiber being left in and pulverized into liquid and thus digested just as quickly as juice. Albeit you are ot getting a sugar load. Natural sugar is still sugar Carrots are pure sugar. Beets too. I would have no idea why it would matter in what order the vegetables would go in. Also the picture of that cucumber is sad! I wouldn’t even eat something that looked like that come on!

  40. I’m new to juicing a had a nice green juice this morning. I’m going to have to play with some recipes (I haven’t tried this one yet) since my juice this morning tasted a bit like sweet grass clippings. 🙂 Anyway, I know that I want to prevent oxidation. Does sealing the juice in a mason jar with a vacuum sealer help with this? I have a thoroughly nifty attachment that does this.

  41. I have this same recipe except I add to it a lemon, turmeric, Radish and baby spinach. Sometimes I throw in parsley and cilantro.
Out of sight and off the chain

  42. Simply by juicing your vegetables and fruits will prevent you from getting the entire range of nutrients. The blender is perhaps the best kitchen power-tool you’ll ever need and the best 100$-150$ ever invested in your health. Make sure you get one with a glass cup so you can clean it properly every time.
    Regards and stay healthy!

  43. I have a Jack la-lane juicer and it works just find for now. I love juicing I stop for wild and one day I was FINING for my juice……….I just sign up with food-babe… As for today I’m still learning of what she has to offer……..I’m enjoying reading everyone’s comments.
