The Food Inc. Awards (Deadline Oct. 16)

I’m super excited to announce a very cool and incredible opportunity for you Food Babes out there. I am constantly hearing about how you’ve changed your life through food or how you are giving back to your community with the information you’ve learned here and elsewhere. Nothing makes me more happy than you sharing your daily lives and activism with me through comments, emails, facebook, and especially when you run into me in person. Thankfully, an award has been developed by the creators of Food Inc. to showcase your achievements and contributions to the food movement called the Food Inc. Awards.

Food Inc. is the first movie I recommend to readers, friends and family to help get their eyes blown wide open about what’s happening in the food industry. It’s exciting to know – 4 years later, this movie is still making a huge impact and growing the food movement even more and more.

Watch This Short Clip: Introducing The Food Inc. Awards (Deadline Oct. 16)

There are 2 different types of Food Inc. Awards you can apply for – Pioneer and Lifestyle. (see requirements below)

The Pioneer Award…

  • What changes did you instill in your community?
  • What impact have you had to date? (number of projects implemented, greatest victory, number of people affected, etc.)
  • Which story, character or issue from the film impacted you the most?

The Lifestyle Award…

An individual who embodies the eating revolution sparked by Food, Inc. This person will have completely changed the way s/he approaches food on a daily basis by going the extra mile when it comes to sustainable and ethical eating practices.

Questions to consider:

  • What specific changes did you make in your personal life to ensure you are eating responsibly and sustainably?
  • How has it changed your buying and eating habits specifically?
  • What impact has that had on your personal life? Over time and/or on a day-to-day basis?
  • Which story, character or issue from the film impacted you the most?

I will just scream if a Food Babe Reader wins.

Wishing you lots of good luck!

Food Babe

  1. I have a mitochondrial disease. Your smoothies and other information have been terrific. Thank you!

  2. I have suffered for a long time from inflamation in my arteries and joints and who knows where else.
In working to treat leaky gut syndrome , I tried the ” Ketogenic Diet ” . In a short time I had lost 30 pounds and all my joint problems went away. Eliminating the grain based diet seems to be the answer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Solving the gut problem may just solve many issues .

  3. Love your site and thank you for this information. I join the crowd whose singing your praises!! Wanted to see if we can speak about a cross promotion because as the founder of the only Holistic Health Insurance we are looking for strategic resources to cross promote as we educate the people across the US in the Green Healthcare Revolution! As the “Voice for Choice” in holistic healthcare Green-Surance is the missing link in a green lifestyle. Looking forward to hearing from you. And keep the content rockin on here!!

  4. Hey Food Babe,

What you are doing is such a gift to bunches of people woefully unaware of just what it is they’re putting in their mouths. I’m a fan.

I’ve purchased and shared “Tired, Fat and Nearly Dead”, “Forks Over Knives” and “Vegecated”. I highly recommend these provocative documentary’s.

While drinking my breakfast from my NutriBullet in front of my East Coast family, they balked in a huge way at this disgusting concoction that I appeared to enjoy. These people I love so much, are for the most part, overweight to obese. After watching “Fat, Tired and Nearly Dead” , I now have requests to try some of that stuff. Very rewarding. And I don’t push it on them, and I don’t lecture. Good boy!

Thirteen pounds is off my frame in a month, and all have noticed. One is dealing with breast cancer, and now is getting way more conscious of what she’s eating.

I watch an entire full course dinner being prepared in a deep frying pan filled with oil, and the 8 year old girl sent off to school after a bowl of Coco Puff’s for breakfast. Her lunch is a sandwich of cold cuts on Wonderbread to my horror!

I’m not judging, but I am on a MISSION!

    To be continued…

Thanks again for what you do,

    Lliam

  5. I nominate Foodbabe! You have earned the Pioneer Award for your innovation in raising awareness of what’s killing us in our food.

  6. Just wanted to say how surprised I am that Magnum advertise on your site! I thought you promoted good health and good food? I know you need funds to support your blog but why chose such bad food giants to do this? Surely you can be more selective in who you affiliate yourself with?

  7. Just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart(burn) for your investigation into the beer business. It has been a hot summer in New Orleans, and for several months I’ve been enjoying domestic and imported beers and also suffering from severe heartburn; new for me, as I had never before experienced any digestive problems. Tums and ginger candies helped but nothing made it go away until Food Babe’s expose of what’s in our beer. I switched to German beer exclusively and mirabile dictu, the heartburn was GONE within two days. That was about a month ago, and it has not returned. By the way, I have heard rumors of significant drops in sales of some popular beer brands recently – Food Babe strikes again!

  8. I was so saddened that the Oregon legislature approved to allow GMO seeds to be grown. The governor already said he would approve it. I am so sad that our country is no longer for the people, by the people. They could care less about their own people. I don’t want my children to be sterile. I want to one day be a grandma.

  9. Food babe your blog is so informative. I constantly share it with others. You are adorable and remind me of David vs Goliath. But I am concerned for your safety !!! Alot of power out there –

  10. This may not be the correct forum but I it seems to be appropriate. Did you know that 90% of food dye is made from petroleum or coal tar. Tasty, huh? There are many diseases associated with food colour but the worst is probably Yellow dye No.5 or Tartrazine. It has been banned outright in Norway as a liver specific carcinogen and has been associated ADD in children. Everyone needs to know this because governments don’t give a hoot about the health of people.

  11. Hi Vani aka Foodbabe

I saw your video for the Food Inc pioneer award. Great video and I wanted to say that I hope you win. I too sent a video for the lifestyle award. I hope we both win
