8/19 Friday ~ Can you guess my calories? :)

Today has been awesome. I was in a great relaxed mood, despite the laundry list of things we need to do this weekend… I did nothing on the list tonight I was suppose to do – besides picking up my dry cleaning after work.  It feels good sometimes to ignore your to do’s and just have a good time.

My husband’s cousin is in town. I love that he has started to read Food Babe! He told me a hilarious story about how he was in the Chick-Fil-A parking lot to get a 100+ ingredient chemical laden sandwich and got into a car wreck!

Was God trying to tell him something?

The guy who hit him got out of the car and said “Now that was f&*^ing dumb!”

I agree – That was f&^%ing dumb 🙂  Not that he got into a car wreck but the fact that he was about to get a Chick-Fil-A sandwich!

If you haven’t read my Chick-Fil-A article – please do. And then if you are sad that you have to give up Chick-Fil-A, don’t worry, you can make this organic version instead.

Morning:

Hot water with lemon and cayenne – at least 10 ounces, and then another 8 ounces of water taken with my probiotics.
We grind fresh organic Larry’s Beans Fair Trade coffee beans every morning. Seriously, there is no other way to drink coffee. I had a small cup before my trip to the gym…
Off to the gym… My shoes are worn down, I need to order some new ones really bad, but I have been seriously lazy about it.My Hari Shake was made with an additional fruit this morning – an organic pear, so delicious.
Then I packed the rest of my goods and headed to work…

Jay Robb -Whey Vanilla Protein at my desk

Mid-Morning:

I had my raw veggie bag that I packed and these almonds.  I keep a couple of containers of almonds in my desk cabinet at work, so I am always prepared.  No reason to pack these every day… Lunch:

Stopped by my patio for a super quick lunch – I threw a few cups of arugula in a bowl, topped it with 1/4 of an avocado, 1/2 cup of beet sweetened hummus, red onions and a splash of balsamic vinegar.

I had some buckwheat crackers with almond butter too…

Mid-Afternoon:

Couldn’t decide which tea to have, so did eeny meeny miny mo… ended up with green again… Enjoyed my hot tea with one of these… And a cup of these cherries… Dinner:

My husband, brother in law, and I took the cousin to Halcyon Flavors of the Earth Had a couple of glasses of Biodynamic wine…It’s been a while…. I enjoyed every sip! I love all of their interesting butters – unfortunately I did not try this blueberry butter because I am refraining from dairy for a few days.  I got treated for a dairy allergy at Acupuncture last night!  I had no idea I had a sensitivity….

First Course:

We ordered the white bean puree dip which is vegan, I asked for veggies instead of all flat bread to dip.  Most restaurants will do this substitution for you if you ask.  I also poured out the oil on top onto the plate to make the dip lighter… Second course:

This was the BOMB.COM!  Spicy squash vegan soup was the special appetizer of the night.  It was absolutely divine!

Third Course:

Since I was avoiding dairy, the chef made me a special farm salad with duck confit topped with fresh strawberry preserves… it was amazing, I am considering getting this dish instead of the duck confit crepes that I normally get going forward…This free range natural duck is from a farm in long island.  Duck is a hugely sustainable meat and I feel alright eating a little bit of it from time to time… there was about 2 ounces on this salad.  The perfect amount. This is what the boys got….all three of them!  Grass fed filet topped with gorgonzola, roasted potatoes and asparagus. Did you know that Dr. Mercola is a big fan of grass fed filet?

Finished the night off with some hot ginger tea for digestion.  I definitely ate a lot more food than I normally eat tonight…but this is quite alright once in a while 🙂  I also happened to find some vegan chocolate and goji berries in my purse.  And, yes of course I ate them – the restaurant sadly didn’t have any vegan options for dessert….
We sat on the patio for another hour after our meal telling stories and catching up.  The weather was perfect, an absolutely gorgeous night.

I’d love to hear about a recent healthy choice you made at a restaurant, do you ever make special requests? Facebook me or leave a comment below!
