Choosing The Best Juicers & Blenders

I am a firm believer that green juicing (using a juicer) and green smoothies (using a blender) are both important in one’s quest for health and wellness. I drink both types of green drinks often but for different reasons. I drink juice to deliver as many nutrients to my body as possible at once and I drink green smoothies for the beneficial fiber and as a meal replacement. Choosing the right juicer and blender is essential. Though they’re not cheap, the one-time investment is priceless in regards to your overall health. Here are my suggestions for quality juicers and blenders. Click any of the links below to be taken directly to Amazon or other retailers (prices listed are subject to change)*.

Juicers

Juicepresso Cold Press Juicer

This is a masticating juicer which preserves more of the vital nutrients in your juice since their is no heat being added during the juicing process. Juicepresso also offers a 7 year warranty on their juicer. Juicepresso is small enough to live on your counter (perfect for college room dorms or small kitchens) and is extremely easy to clean as it is made up of a couple of parts.

Breville Slow Juicer

Works by grinding the vegetables/fruits against a filter instead of spinning them around quickly. Quiet and easy to clean and preserves nutrients and enzymes much longer than centrifugal juicers (a big plus).

Tribest Green Star Elite Twin Gear Juicer ($520)

This is a great masticating juicer, which means that it works by squeezing the juice from the pulp instead of spinning it like the centrifuge juicer. Masticating juicers are proven to make higher quality juices. With this machine, there is less potential for oxidation during juicing because it doesn’t have any airflow.

Breville Juice Fountain Elite ($240)

This centrifuge juicer spins vegetables until they separate into juice and pulp. Slightly less expensive than a masticating juicer. It’s easy to clean, with mostly a stainless steel finish and can be put on the top shelf of the dishwasher occasionally.

Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Pro ($118)

This is a good machine for the beginner juicer as it is similar to the Breville, but only costs a portion of the price. It is not as heavy duty as the Breville, but will do the job!

Blenders for Green Smoothies

Blendtec Designer Series Blender (Free Shipping! $279+)

This is a high powered blender that is very good at pulverizing ice, seeds, and nuts, without leaving any chunks. It also comes with a 7-year manufacturer warranty.

This blender works well even when it’s filled to capacity, and does an excellent job at blending green smoothies and liquefying frozen fruit and veggies. It has a 2-piece lid with a removable plug for adding ingredients while blending. Also comes with a 7-year manufacturer warranty.

Waring Professional Bar Blender with Glass Jar ($99)

An economic option for blending up basic smoothies, with a 390 watt motor.

Kitchenaid Diamond Blender ($137)

This inexpensive blender comes with 5 settings to stir, chop, mix, puree and liquefy, plus pulse and ice crush modes. The pitcher and base don’t need to be taken apart to clean, which makes cleanup quick and easy.
