8/14 Sunday ~ 1400 calories

Welcome to Everyday Eats – This is post numero uno on what Food Babe is eating on a daily basis! I would love to get comments/questions each day from y’all and hear about what you are eating too!

Breakfast:

First thing when I wake up I drink hot water with lemon and a dash of cayenne...This helps get your liver to wake up for the active day ahead!
While surfing the web and deciding what was in the fridge to eat....I had a small pink lady apple
Ahhhh yeah - This is my favorite weekend breakfast. The first thing I saw in the fridge was almond butter. I toasted a piece of Ezekiel Cinnamon Raisin Bread and topped it off with a third of a banana and 2 tsps of almond butter

Then I headed to the gym to make my booty burn…. P90x Plyometrics followed by 20 mins of abs/leg focused pilates – ouch, my booty was burning…bad 🙂

Lunch:

I had to stop by Home Healthy Market to restock on some goods. I decided to make some lunch to go while I ran errands, so I could have one of their fresh veggie juices first.

Fresh Kale Juice, Jay Robb Vanilla Whey Protein mixed with water, Pumpkin Seed Kale Crackers, raw carrots, cucumbers and celery, and some trail mix

Then I proceeded go to Ulta to see if I could find some new natural makeup products. The selection was abysmal and they were out of everything. I left and went straight to Earth Fare to restock on my favs and pick up some eats for the week. Home Healthy Market and Earth Fare on the same day – this is not a typical Sunday!

Found raw chocolate covered guava in my purse while searching for my keys - Ate about 1/3 of the box while shopping- delicious! Do you see all different colored nail polish on my fingers! Ha! I tried 10 new colors at Ulta! 🙂

Dinner:

Yesterday, I visited my Mom (who by the way, makes the best indian food you’ll EVER have) and she made some fresh Sambar, a South Indian stew that is amazing!  This was dinner tonight!

My mom warned me that I may not like the salt content of her recent pot of Sambar - so I cooked up a 1/2 cup of these sprouted lentils with extra water and then combined them with her sambar. It was perfect. Thanks for the warning Mom! (Please ignore my scary thumb with silver on top of red nail polish! - eeeeeek!)
Started dinner with a massaged kale salad topped with a few currants
The spices & flavors in Sambar are incredible - Fenugreek, Mustard Seeds, Curry Leaves, Cumin Seeds, Ginger, Turmeric, Red Pepper, Cinnamon and Coriander all in one soup!

My favorite part of the day - I always end my day with something sweet. Goji berries, dried coconut and grain sweetened chocolate chips and 1/2 of a vegan whole wheat earth fare cookie!
This cranberry tea is delicous! It has a little stevia leaf in it making it a sweet hot drink at the end of the night.

Please note – I normally eat more calories, but this week I am watching it, since I will definitely be splurging on my upcoming adventure overseas!

  1. What brands of makeup do you usually buy at Ulta? I have one near me, but I get overwhelmed when trying to find legit organic makeup! I think I settled on Physicians Formula Organic Wear, but I’m not sure how transparent the company/brand is.

  2. Fenugreek? Interesting… It is commonly used as a natural milk producer for lactating moms. Never seen (or even heard about it!) used for cooking!

  3. Comment I live for sambar!!! We adopted our sweet little girl from India; she and her entire orphanage survived on sambar and idlee or dosai. I was born in Tuticorin, south of Chennai/Madras. Please tell us more about your time in India. :-) says:

I so appreciate all your time and research. I’m learning so much from you, a fellow Indian sista!
