8/16 Tuesday ~ 1450 Calories

Today went by so fast….Here’s what happened

Morning:

Hot water with lemon and cayenne

Give me coffee!!! Specifically…Larry’s Beans Fair Trade Organic Coffee, Frenchy French Roast

“Hari Shake” and Jay Robb -Whey Vanilla Protein mixed with water

Mid Morning Snack:

One bag of my pre cut veggies I made two days ago

 10 Almonds

Lunch:

Making my colllard wraps with beet hummus, red onions and sprouts.  So sad I am out of avocado!

Collard wraps, my Mom’s roasted eggplant and a few buckwheat crackers with almond butter

I’m not only the “Clean Plate Club” President, but I’m also a client! Mid Afternoon Snack:

Green tea again. I boil my own filtered water in my own tea pot at work.  I’m crazy like that.

Flour free and refined sugar free Almond Biscotti

Then at the end of the day, I remembered I had these….

I washed and packed these berries the night before

Of course I ate them… Saddened that I forgot my good fork at home and had to use this horrible plastic one.  I considered using my hands, but I needed to get work done too! Touching my key board while eating, not good.

Dinner:

Honey! I’m home! …. My husband was waiting with a new camera down the hallway… our new underwater camera for our trip arrived!

Used my collard stems from yesterday and today as part of my fresh veggie juice before dinner.  Also, I used all the extremely long green stems from my Absolute Organics carrots I received last week in my weekly delivery…

The Juice is Loose!

Ezekiel Pasta is my absolute favorite form of pasta, it’s sprouted just like the bread.  If you have never tried it, order some now!  It’s so nutritious and packed with protein to keep you full.  I always weight it before boiling to control portion size.  My husband gets four ounces and I get two!

Used my favorite raw parmasen from Earth Fare

Amazingly satisfying…My plate is almost half steamed broccoli!  I love lightly steamed broccoli – I could eat it every night.  About 3 bites in, we found some dead bugs in it….that’s what happens sometimes when you buy organic!  Oh well… extra protein!  Just kidding… I picked them out… I didn’t eat them, or at least I didn’t intentionally eat them….

My husband’s bite really up close…Uhhhh… this is making me hungry again. Too bad there is no leftovers!Clean Plate Club, again, duh. Remember I am the President! This was dessert – SURPRISE!  Guess what I had again?…the last 3 nights in a row and counting… Today was a great balanced eating day – what do you think? I love receiving your feedback!  Remember to Like My Fan Page, so we can be friends!

  1. I can’t wait to try the pasta…Yum! What is your opinion on juicing vs blending? I have been blending my greens in the morning and prefer a juice…so I am thinking of investing in a good juicer. Do you try and juice/blend 50/50? Does it matter? Thanks!!!
PS Dying to try one of your Indian recipes! Your moms dishes sound so great!

  2. There are studies that show when you eat a carrot raw, you get about 30% of its beta carotene and when you juice a carrot you get 90%!… Juice breaks down the vegetable in a way for your body to easily absorb the nutrients that get lost in digestion. Blending also breaks down the vegetables allowing your body to assimilate the nutrients better too, but since you still have to digest the fiber, some nutrients become lost. I try to drink fresh juice about 5 times a week, but blend every day too if possible. Get a juicer! You won’t be sorry! I can’t think of something better money can buy – a long healthy life?! 🙂

When I get back from my trip, I’ll spend some more time with my Mama and share some of her amazing Indian eats too! Thanks for commenting Holly!

  3. Wow! Does blending really help the absorption of beta carotene that much? I need to find myself a juicer. But unfortunately, I don’t think I’ll be able to bring it to my dorm room.
The Ezekial pasta looks delicious, how is the texture?

  4. Blanca – The texture takes getting used to if you have been eating regular durum wheat pasta. The texture is chewier and heartier than even whole wheat pasta. I personally love it – especially knowing I am consuming no flour and only real whole grains 🙂
