Let me count the ways I love goji berries…
- They are sweet and chewy.
- They are PACKED with antioxidants.
- And, their health benefits are abundant.
That’s why adding goji’s to a smoothie is the best idea ever!
Did you know that goji berries have one of the highest concentrations of antioxidants of any food?
Antioxidants are very important because they fight all the free radicals and toxins you can accumulate in your body that cause aging and disease. Goji berries are great for eyesight, skin, and fertility too! (1)
Paired with organic strawberries, raw almond butter, and bananas, they make a delicious antioxidant-rich smoothie that will give you tons of energy. I like to add Truvani Vanilla Plant Based Protein to mine, which makes it a meal that lasts for several hours.
This makes the best FAST FOOD.
Smoothies are something that I try to incorporate in my everyday diet because they are the ultimate “fast food” which makes it easy to incorporate several nutrient-dense ingredients in one easy to drink shake. Simply whiz it up in the blender and eat.
One thing I don’t do, however, is buy pre-made bottled “smoothies” from the grocery store, such as the ones made by Naked and Bolthouse Farms. These smoothies are very heavily processed, which destroys the beneficial nutrients. Especially when they use “concentrates” which are made by boiling juice into a syrup. If you’re going to drink a smoothie, what’s the point if its nutrients have been boiled to death?!
If you’re not careful though, smoothies can get BORING.
That’s why my new cookbook, Food Babe Kitchen, includes a wide variety of smoothie recipes to keep things interesting. So, if you’d like more recipes to shake up your smoothie routine, you’ve got to check it out!
Here’s the printable recipe for my Goji Berry Bliss Smoothie… try it and tell me what you think in the comments below!
- 1 cup frozen strawberries
- 1 banana, peeled
- 2 tablespoons goji berries
- 1 tablespoon almond butter
- ½ - 1 cup coconut milk
- Optional: 1 scoop Truvani protein powder
- Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.
After you try this smoothie, I’m sure you’ll also be singing the praises of goji berries! Aren’t they the best?
P.S Do you know anyone else who would love this antioxidant-rich smoothie recipe? Please share this post with them!

Thanks for the the Smoothie recipe! However, you missed to mention what brand almond butter and coconut milk to use.
Hi Vin! Vani wrote a blog post on how to choose the best nut milks, with a list of her favorite brands here: https://foodbabe.com/what-are-the-healthiest-non-dairy-milks-to-drink/
And here are her picks for almond butter: https://foodbabe.com/peanut-butter-almond-butter-to-never-buy-again-my-top-brands-ultimate-nut-butter-buying-guide/
I can’t drink almond milk alone 🙁 can you please give me different uses of it?
I added a little flaxseeds & some honey (love with bananas ). It was delicious!
For a variation the next day, I also added cacao nibs I picked up with Nutiva brand gogiberries (my 1st time making a shake with Gogi). I even sprinkled some Cacao nibs chocolate on top to nibble with the smoothie! It gave the strawberry banana shake a boost of chocolate taste ❤️ I used my Vitamix (high end) blender!!
*Can anyone share benefits they felt or seen from using gogiberries in their diet- did your skin, hair, or any body parts feel & show a difference from the high amounts of its Vitamin A. or feel free to comment your experience thanks.
*If there are other superfoods in addition to gogiberries that you love in your shakes please share them and how it affected you. Does it usually take 30-60 days to notice these things or how soon for you?
